DIY Guide: How to Fix a Dripping Faucet.
Materials you'll need:
Adjustable wrench
Screwdriver
Replacement parts (depending on the type of faucet)
Step 1: Turn off the water supply Locate the shutoff valve under the sink and turn it off to cut the water supply to the faucet. If you can't find a valve under the sink, turn off the main water supply to the house.
Step 2: Remove the handle Use a screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the faucet handle. Remove the handle by pulling it straight up or by using a handle puller if it's stuck.
Step 3: Remove the packing nut Using an adjustable wrench, remove the packing nut by turning it counterclockwise. You may need to use penetrating oil to loosen it.
Step 4: Remove the stem Remove the stem by pulling it straight out of the faucet. If it's stuck, use a stem puller to remove it.
Step 5: Inspect the parts Inspect the O-ring, washer, and other parts inside the faucet for any signs of wear or damage. If you see any, replace the damaged parts with new ones.
Step 6: Replace the parts Replace any damaged parts with new ones of the same size and type. Make sure the replacement parts match the old ones.
Step 7: Reassemble the faucet Reassemble the faucet by following the previous steps in reverse order. Turn the water supply back on and test the faucet to make sure the dripping has stopped.
Congratulations, you have successfully fixed your dripping faucet!
